Better use of $ 100 in my organic vegetable garden?
The best answer to this question will be the most insightful. I would like to improve my suburban garden in California to be productive, organic and sustainable. What I am asking this question is really this type of investment could give me the most for my money, especially in the long term. Suggestions may be for plants, tools, infrastructure, support, and so on. This I want my garden foods (fruits, vegetables) Something satisfaction exercise an apartment to look elsewhere, weeds, backyard square I already put in my garden: a backyard 50 feet square, about one third has been cleared of weeds and Soil improvement process started. Five different seed orchards existing, already registered or otherwise acquired a library card and Internet connection A team of gardening a little woman (me) of the basic tools, including two compost bins
I can give you a short answer – compost! There is absolutely nothing better you can do for your vegetable patch to dig in loads of compost and if you can get it, well rotted manure. If you are near the sea, then pop up your local beach and get a load of seaweed to dig in as well. I know you have a couple of compost bins, but it will take months and months before getting anything usable of them and you really want to start enriching your soil immediately – if not sooner. If your soil is well composted, and everything you plant will grow much later better and get much better crop of your patch. I know this is not "Sexy" answer – but it's true. Old compost – You can not beat it.
