Sandy soil Plants Plumeria porous?

I brought home from Hawaii several starter "sticks" from the Plumeria flowering shrub. The directions call for sandy porous soil. I bought Miracle Grow commercial potting soil, but do I need to add my own sand? If yes, how?

Hello there: I was just given a similar stick from a friend. My sense pays 1 / 2 and a mixture 1 / 2. But first, you load in rocks or stones in the container at about 1-2 "inches to line the bottom of the container, then add in the ground a mixture of sand / plant the stick. I hope it works.
