Raised Bed Organic Gardening
How much would I need soil for 45 raised beds garden? I need help with math!?
I volunteer to assist in a local community garden project which aims to introduce and teach 75 families on organic gardening and the need for some math before we could order our topsoil for the project as quickly as possible. I need to know how I would have raised the floor if each bed is 3 feet wide by 12 feet long and 18 inches tall. The beds should not be filled to the brim, but somewhere around 10 inches, then we need complete with a little compost too. How do I know how much topsoil should be raised in bed and how I needed to ground all of the 45 raised beds. I need to calculate its cost is going for our community gardening project. Local expenditures earth plant $ 350 per 12 cubic meters which is what comes in a size load dump truck. How many charges do I need and what the costs come too? Please and thank you to all those who want to help here.
To determine the volume of its length * width * height. Since you are only filling the beds at 10 inches, we need to know that 10 inches is 0.83 feet 12 * 3 * 0.83 = 29.88 cubic feet 1 cubic foot = 0.037037037 meter cube, so you need 1.106 cubic yards of earth per planter. Since you need 1.106 cubic yards of earth planter, 45 planter you would need 49.77 cubic meters of soil. 49.77/12 = 4.1475, then for an exact amount you would pay $ 1,451.63 in total. If they give you full dump truck loads and you end up have to round to 5 dump truck loads rather than 4.1475 then you pay $ 1750.
